The Maritime College of Forest Technology is an institution located in New Brunswick, Canada, at the edge of the Atlantic Coast. The college has been teaching students for over four decades, giving them the knowledge and skills necessary to become the forestry leaders of tomorrow.
The college offers diplomas, certificates and advanced diplomas in multiple areas of forestry, such as sustainable forest management, wildlife habitat assessment and woodlot development. The college homes 130 undergraduate students and 25 graduate students at its main campus and regional centre in Woodstock, New Brunswick.
For full-time students, the college has a mandatory two-year program of study, including a practicum opportunity for students in the winter semester. Part-time students can take courses from any faculty or department that their schedule allows. Courses at the college include ecology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and more.
The faculty of Wilderness Leadership offers students the opportunity to hone their skills in outdoor education, camp administration and counseling, GPS navigation, snowmobile operations and archery. Those enrolled in the program will also get a unique hands-on learning experience through on-campus activities, outdoor functions and wilderness expeditions.
The college provides individual one-on-one instruction from qualified instructors, who are all professional foresters and prominent academics in their fields. The college works with industry partners to create and deliver curriculum content, ensuring students receive the most up-to-date and relevant instruction.
